I began designing web sites as a hobby when I was injured in a serious car accident and could not work for some time. I designed web sites for personal use and for friends before going back to work and working for some large companies and government bodies as a web designer.
I worked for the Dixon Group and was based in their headquarters in Hertford. I designed a database driven intranet for use by the customer service department when helping customers with queries about their purchases and warranty protection plans.
On completion of this contract I began work for Wandsworth Borough Council in London. This job was similar to my work at Dixon's in designing an intranet that the housing department could use to look up information on the Councils housing policies. In addition to this I also trained the staff there to carry on the work when I left at the end of my contract.
I then began work for British Telecom at Liverpool Street in London. I was employed to assist in the testing of a new web portal being built. Using Quality Assurance testing sheets I tested the new Genie portal and reported any errors found back to the designers for further investigation.
When my contract at British Telecom finished I started work at Alton College. I was hired as a Senior IT Technician and was responsible for the design maintenance and update of the college web site. In addition to this I was also responsible for the day to day running and maintenance of the Virtual Learning Environment.
After leaving Alton College I was again laid off work again due to illness but continued to carry on designing web sites for friends and as a hobby.
I am now looking for more work designing, maintaining and updating web sites. This web site is used to advertise my work and web site design packages as well as being my personal site.
